June 8, 2022 – The Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University (INMU) was delighted to welcome Dr. Jeannine Baumgartner of King’s College London, UK, who delivered a seminar on “The effect of a natural polyphenol supplement on iron absoption in adults with hereditary hemochromatosis”.
It was an especially warm welcome for Dr Baumgartner who, in 2007, as an MSc Food Science and Nutrition student at ETH Zürich, Switzerland, spent several months conducting research at Mahidol University under the supervision of Sueppong Gowachirapant, at that time a PhD candidate at INMU.
Now, Drs. Sueppong and Baumgartner are together leading a new collaborative project between INMU and ETH, “Testing a natural polyphenol supplement to inhibit dietary iron absorption in Thai adults with iron-loading thalassemia: a stable isotope study“.
