On September 13 -14, 2022, researchers of the Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University and the Karen community representative under the project “Climate change Resilience of Indigenous SocioEcological systems (RISE)” attended a workshop on data collection and analysis of results in each work package of the project, i.e. socioeconomics, nutritional assessment, and distribution of traditional food resources for projecting the impacts of future climate change, with the Japan and Russia Teams at the Arctic Research Center, Hokkaido University, Japan.
The RISE project is a 3-year multidisciplinary research combining knowledge of many disciplines including ecology, nutrition, economics, anthropology, and social sciences, funded by the e-ASIA Joint Research Program and have Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wantanee Kriengsinyos as a Thai project leader. In addition, for utilizing knowledge and wisdom of the indigenous people, the community partnership has also been invited to participate in data collection, analysis, and developing systematic strategies to monitor and counter the consequences of climate change and socioeconomic development on traditional indigenous socioecological systems.
